The company said the new plant is expected to commence operations in the first half of 2029 and will play a key role in strengthening Toyota’s business foundation in one of the world’s fastest-growing automobile markets.

The upcoming facility will cater not only to domestic demand in India but will also serve customers in nearby international markets, highlighting India’s growing importance in Toyota’s global manufacturing strategy.

The announcement comes as global automakers continue increasing investments in India amid rising vehicle demand, improving infrastructure, and the country’s emergence as a key export hub for automobiles.

Toyota said the expansion aligns with its long-term vision of building a flexible production ecosystem that can quickly respond to future market demand and changing consumer preferences.

The company added that the new manufacturing unit will support faster product deliveries while helping expand its footprint across India and neighbouring regions.

“Toyota’s business in India has progressed together with those who pioneered the Indian market, and we have received invaluable support through this journey,” the company said in its statement.

The automaker further emphasized that the new facility is expected to contribute to local economic development by generating employment opportunities and supporting the broader growth of India’s automotive manufacturing ecosystem.

Toyota Motor Corporation has been steadily expanding its presence in India through Toyota Kirloskar Motor as competition intensifies in the passenger vehicle market with rivals such as Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Hyundai Motor India, and Tata Motors aggressively scaling operations.

Industry analysts believe the move reflects growing confidence among global automakers in India’s long-term consumption story and export potential.
